ABSTRACT

One of the organisational and employees' responses to the COVID-19 pandemic is a shift to virtual working models including the management of projects and project teams in virtual environments. However, little is known about the effect of personal and work characteristics on the psychological safety of project management professionals. This study explores the relationship between the personal and work characteristics of project managers on their psychological safety in virtual teams. Data for the study is collected from 104 project management professionals in the United Kingdom. SPSS is used to analyse and test a series of hypotheses. The study confirmed the significant relationship between the personal and work characteristics of the project managers and their psychological safety. The study provides an overview of the role of diversity, equality and inclusion on psychological safety among project managers; and proposes future research directions to understand and contribute to the psychological wellbeing of project managers working in virtual teams.

ABSTRACT

In the spring of 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic forced higher education stakeholders worldwide to introduce distance learning, which made it necessary to adopt entirely new teaching and learning strategies. This research explores the personal characteristics, which influence the acceptance of online education, such as the need for personal interaction or the ability for self-regulated learning. In this quantitative research, the authors used data collected from 307 higher education students via an online questionnaire to test their hypotheses. Structural equation modelling (SEM) showed that performance expectancy and hedonic motivation variables (UTAUT-2) directly affected online learning intentions, whereas this was indirectly influenced by self-regulated learning and need for interaction variables. Ultimately, the effort expectancy (UTAUT-2) variable had a non-significant effect on the endogenous variable, while the five constructs explained the intention to use online learning with a variance of 66.4%. A kutatás célja, hogy feltárja az oktatással kapcsolatos, online oktatás elfogadását befolyásoló személyes tulajdonságokat, tényezőket, mint a személyes interakció iránti igény vagy az önszabályozó tanulásra való képesség. Az UTAUT2 technológiaelfogadási modell változóit közvetítő hatásként bevonva vizsgálták a szerzők az online tanulás, mint technológia jövőbeni elfogadására való hajlandóságot. Kvantitatív kutatásukban 307 felsőoktatásban tanuló hallgatótól online kérdőív segítségével gyűjtött adatokat használtak fel hipotéziseik teszteléséhez. A strukturális egyenletek modellezéssel (SEM) való hipotézistesztelés után a várható teljesítmény és a hedonista motiváció változók direkt, míg az önszabályozó tanulás, valamint a személyes interakció igény változók indirekt módon hatottak az online tanulási szándékra. A várható szükséges erőfeszítés változó nem szignifikáns hatást gyakorol a végső, endogén változóra. A modellbe bevont öt konstrukció 66,4%-os varianciával magyarázza az online tanuláshoz vezető használati szándékot. ABSTRACT

Purpose - This study aims to simultaneously examine the influence of demographic. psychographic and situational factors on consumers' willingness to pay a price premium (WTPp) for robotic restaurants and to profile market segments based on consumers WTPp levels (positive, neutral and negative). Design/methodology/approach - Using an online survey, the data were gathered from a sample of 897 Thai consumers who had dined at a robotic restaurant in the past 12 months. Structural equation modeling, chi-square tests and the one-way analysis of variance were used for data analysis. Findings - Demographic (gender, age, income and marital status), psychographic (perceived advantages/disadvantages, personal innovativens and personality traits) and situational factors (perceived health risk and self-protection behavior) significantly influence consumers' WTPp for robotic restaurants. The positive price premium group differs significantly from the neutral and negative price premium groups in terms of demographic, psychographic and situational profiles. Practical implications - The findings of this study help restaurateurs target the correct customers and set up appropriate price fences to safeguard profits and maximize return on investment. Originality/value - This study contributes to the literature on technology-based services and hospitality by heeding the calls made by lvanov and Webster (2021) and providing much-nwded empirical evidence of possible changes in consumers' WTPp for robot-delivered services in restaurants due to COVID-19.

ABSTRACT

This article aims to identify the factors that influence the digital transformation process in the restaurant industry. The proposed theoretical framework differentiates three groups of conditioning factors of digitalisation in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in this sector: (1) the personal characteristics of the entrepreneurs/managers;(2) the characteristics of the businesses;and (3) the spatial location of the restaurants. The data used in the empirical research were compiled from a representative survey of restaurant SMEs in Spain. The study uses an ordinal logistic regression specification to test the hypotheses. The results obtained indicate that the education of entrepreneurs/managers, their entrepreneurial motivations, and their ambition for growth condition the digital transformation of their businesses. Furthermore, the characteristics of the company, such as the number of establishments, belonging to a corporate group, and the employees' educational level, influence the digitalisation of restaurants. Likewise, it is observed that the digitalisation process is stimulated in inland towns compared to coastal areas, as well as in intermediate municipalities with populations of between 10,000 and 100,000 inhabitants.

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to examine and analyze the influence of environmental and personal characteristics on the self-efficacy of child care teachers in Texas. Using the self-reported Teachers' Sense of Efficacy Scale (Tschannen-Moran & Woolfolk Hoy, 2001) in a convenience sample population from the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services child care licensing list, a multiple linear regression and ANOVA sought to examine group differences of teacher self-efficacy based on their years of experience, highest level of education, whether the center where they were employed was accredited and depending on the type of child care center. During participant recruitment and data collection the historic global pandemic, COVID-19 led to child care center closures, unemployment, and a multitude of emotional and physical tolls on the target population, challenging the internal validity of the study. Due to an underpowered sample, no significant differences were found in either of the analyses, but the lack of significance should be interpreted with caution. ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to explore elementary school students' perceptions of online learning resources (OLRs) during the COVID-19 pandemic and further examine the factors that influence students' perceptions of OLRs. A total of 396, 269 valid student questionnaires through an open online survey were collected. Data from students' personal characteristics, the facilities of online learning, and students' information literacy were collected to analyze the relationship among these factors and elementary school students' perceptions of OLRs. The results showed that students' personal characteristics, the facilities of online learning, and students' information literacy have significantly affected students' perceptions of OLRs. © 2021 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

The outbreak of COVID-19 generated a negative impact on the psychological wellbeing of frontline public health workers due to a shortage of staff and supplies. This research investigated the effect of the team environment, personal characteristics, work environment and psychological capital on work behavior and organizational citizenship behavior during COVID-19 pandemic. The participants were 816 frontline public health workers in the northern part of Thailand. The findings revealed that the 2 models had an acceptable fit, chi-square = 293.00, df = 273, p =.19, CFI = 1.00, NNFI = 1.00, GFI =.97, AGFI =.96, RMSEA =.00 and x2/df = 1.07, and chi-square = 297.83, df = 274, p w=.15, CFI = 1.00, NNFI = 1.00, GFI =.97, AGFI =.96, RMSEA =.01, and x2/df = 1.09. The results indicated that team environment had direct effects on psychological wellbeing (β =.42, p =.05), work behavior (β =.91, p =.05), and OCB (β =.92, p =.05). Furthermore, personal characteristics had direct effects on psychological wellbeing (β =.66, p =.05), work behavior (β =.90, p =.05), and OCB (β =.92, p =.05). These findings suggest that strengthening personal positive behavior could lead to positive work and team environment that could enhance an individual’s psychological wellbeing. © Behavioral Science Research Institute

ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced medical schools and clinicians to transition swiftly to working online, where possible. During this time, final-year medical students at King's College London, England, have received some of their general practice teachings in the form of virtual tutor groups. The predominant feature of such groups is online patient simulations, which provide students a valuable experience to help gain insight into current clinical practice amid the pandemic and inform how their practices as incoming junior doctors would continue. Even in the absence of face-to-face teaching and clinical placements, students have been able to hone their medical knowledge and soft skills through these virtual, simulated consultations. They have been exposed to a new consultation style while in a safe and collaborative learning space. Here, we explore how medical students have benefited from these virtual tutor groups and how similar small-group online teaching opportunities can add value to the medical curriculum in the future.
